Last week, Lionel Messi and Inter Miami traveled to Jamaica to face the Cavaliers in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. The match attracted tens of thousands of fans to the stadium. It not only created a lively atmosphere but also had a significant impact on the country’s economy.

In an interview with Goal.com, Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, Delano Seivewright, said: “The tour of Lionel Messi and Inter Miami has created a strong boost in many important sectors of the local economy. Hotels, restaurants, bars and tour operators have all benefited from the influx of domestic and international visitors to watch the match.”

The arrival of the Argentine superstar has also put Jamaica in the spotlight of the global sports media. “International news agencies and sports channels have been constantly reporting on the presence of Lionel Messi, putting Jamaica in the spotlight. This has also contributed to raising our country’s reputation as a destination for sports, entertainment and tourism,” added Delano Seivewright.

On March 17, the Argentine Football Federation confirmed that Lionel Messi will not participate in the team’s March matches due to an adductor injury. Recently, the Inter Miami star also expressed his sadness about being absent from this training session.

Lionel Messi said: “I am very sorry that I cannot play in the important matches against Uruguay and Brazil. Although I wanted to play, my injury forced me to rest. I will cheer from afar like a fan. Come on, Argentina!”
