Ronaldo once surprised hotel staff at the luxury resort Costa Navarino in Greece with a generous tip of 20,000 euros.
Recently, Sport Bible reported that the Portuguese football superstar, owner of five Ballon d’Or titles, is famous as one of the richest athletes in the world. With a valuable contract at Al Nassr club and a series of commercial and sponsorship contracts, Ronaldo is said to earn around £167.9 million a year.
However, Ronaldo’s wealth is not only reflected in his “huge” income but also in his generosity. In 2018, staff at the luxury resort Costa Navarino in Greece had the opportunity to experience this firsthand.
Accordingly, after Ronaldo and his family checked out, the hotel staff were extremely surprised to discover a tip of up to 20,000 euros. Notably, Ronaldo’s only request when leaving was that this tip must be divided equally among the staff who helped him have a memorable vacation.
Greek online sports magazine Sportime.gr reported in detail: “10 employees tasked with providing special services to the Ronaldo family and ensuring their privacy from the paparazzi, each received 2,000 euros.”
Ronaldo visited the resort after Portugal were eliminated from the 2018 World Cup. He spent 10 days with family and friends at the Royal Methoni villa. The villa reportedly offers 24-hour butler service and has natural sand dunes that provide a secret hideaway for famous guests away from the prying eyes of photographers. Before Ronaldo, the resort also hosted Hollywood A-listers such as Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
At that time, Ronaldo also posted many relaxing moments on his personal Instagram page, including a photo of him rowing with his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez, showing a happy and private vacation after a stressful World Cup.
Since moving to Saudi Arabia to play for Al Nassr in January 2023, Cristiano Ronaldo has continued to enjoy a lavish lifestyle and his generous gestures have always been admired by fans around the world.
