According to The Sun, Marcus Rashford is set to sign a 5-year contract with Man Utd, becoming the highest-paid player at the club.
Following De Gea’s departure, Man Utd is determined to make Rashford the new “king” of the club. The Red Devils are preparing to extend his contract for another 5 years. In the new deal, Rashford will receive £375,000 per week (matching De Gea’s previous salary), which is one and a half times higher than his current weekly income (£250,000).
In the Premier League, Rashford will be the fourth-highest earner, trailing behind Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne (Man City), and Mohamed Salah (Liverpool).
Man Utd is also planning to restructure their wage system as they currently have several high-earning players like Jadon Sancho (£350,000 per week), Casemiro (£350,000 per week), Varane (£340,000 per week), Anthony Martial (£250,000 per week), and Harry Maguire (£200,000 per week).
In the coming period, the Red Devils may consider selling some high-earning players like Sancho, Martial, and Maguire to increase the club’s wage budget. At the same time, they aim to secure the future of key players, particularly Rashford.
Rashford is a product of Man Utd’s youth academy and has established himself firmly at the club. In the past season, the English forward scored an impressive 30 goals in 56 matches across all competitions, contributing to the team’s triumph in the EFL Cup and securing a spot in the Champions League.
However, HLV Ten Hag still wants to bring in another striker to share the attacking burden with Rashford. Man Utd has shown interest in various quality players such as Harry Kane, Rasmus Hojlund, and Victor Osimhen, but they are yet to secure any signings.
As of now, Man Utd has only successfully acquired Mason Mount from Chelsea for £65 million. In the coming days, the Red Devils could also sign goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan for £43 million.
