The basketball legend bid farewell to his 13-year reign as the majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets. But his goodbye note thanking the Hornets’ fans backfired.

Michael Jordan bids goodbye to Buzz City

Michael Jordan, who was once hailed as the greatest basketball player ever, took over the ownership of the franchise in 2010 and became the first former player to own an NBA team. During his time as an owner, the Hornets’ performance on the court never quite matched the immense success he achieved during his playing days. And because of such a great legacy, the fans were expecting a lot from Jordan, which he was unable to fulfill and let down the Hornets fans.

Jordan eventually decided to sell his majority stake for a reported amount of $3 billion. Rick Schnall and Plotkin who were both minority stakeholders of the team since 2019 are now in charge. The new group hopes to guide the Hornets toward success both on and off the court. Stockholding members include artist J. Cole, financial expert Dan Sundheim, and country music singer-songwriter Eric Church.

As Michael Jordan bids goodbye to the Charlotte Hornets, he had a message for the fans. He wrote a letter in which he spoke about his journey with the team, all the ups and downs they had together, and thanked the fans. But the fans did not appreciate the “thank-you” letter.

Fans furious about MJ’s farewell letter While the Hornets experienced mixed results under Jordan’s majority ownership, the team’s loyal fan base remained hopeful for brighter days.

But as Jordan decided to call quits before accomplishing anything with the team may have caused the fans to be agitated against him. And as the thank-you letter was posted on the official social media handle of the Hornets, fans took out all their frustration.

One fan was so furious that he wrote, “Only good thing he did was bring the name back. Get out of here.”

Another fan even taunted MJ about how he did not do anything for the team and wrote, “Bro said “A few challenging ones” like they weren’t the entire 13 years ”

A fan even pointed out the weak decisions made by Jordan and said, “Pretty weak letter. 13 years of garbage decisions and he wrote a paragraph ”

One fan did not like the letter so much that he started dissecting what Jordan wrote and said, “the unforgettable moments he’s taking about is making the playoffs only 2 out of 13 years and making the worse draft choices.”

A Hornet fan so happy that Jordan was leaving that he wrote, “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out”. One Hornet fan just had enough of Michael Jordan and said, “WILL NOT BE MISSED GET OUT OF MY CLUB!!!!!”
