The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is heading into the offseason with a fresh cut.

Patrick Mahomes is making his signature style a thing of the past.

While out and about over the weekend, the 29-year-old Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was photographed at a family event, per US Weekly, and eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice that the NFL star had drastically switched up his iconic ‘do.

Mahomes has rocked the same haircut for years, even making his NFL debut with his hair styled the same way it had been since he was drafted from Texas Tech: tapered on the sides and long on top, showing off his curls.

But after nearly a decade of playing ball with the same haircut, the doting dad of three decided it was time for a change.

In now-viral images circulating social media platforms like Reddit and X (formerly Twitter), Mahomes appears to be caught off-guard, standing outside wearing a pair of black sunglasses and a black collared T-shirt with a red flower pinned onto his chest. His curly head of hair received a noticeable trim ahead of the outing, with most of the length getting chopped off as Mahomes is now rocking a much shorter hair.

“Time for new beginnings and a new chapter! 🔥,” one fan said of the new look. “QB1 is rocking a fresh cut ahead of the new season.”

“Slick,” a second gushed.

“He looks straight out of the 90s here!” another exclaimed. “I’m ready for greatness!!”

“He’s gone full Dad,” someone else teased.

“We’re officially in a new era* now,” a different Chiefs fan quipped.

“I really like the new look!” another wrote via X, noting that Mahomes had hinted that he was overdue for a refreshed style. “Diff vibes for 2025 season.”

In Netflix’s 2023 docuseries Quarterback, Mahomes admitted that he wanted to update his look, telling his trainer, Bobby Stroupe, that he “can’t have two kids and a Mohawk.”

“Hair’s gone next year. Going with different hair next year. I can’t have two kids and a Mohawk. ‘Cause I gotta be a dad at some point,” he joked. “Imagine being 40 years old with this haircut.”

Since Mahomes has quite some time before he reaches that milestone birthday, we can only guess his wife, Brittany Mahomes, giving birth to baby number three was his deciding factor for starting this year with a new look.
