Real Madrid successfully signed Jude Bellingham

Bellingham’s move to the Santiago Bernabeu was first announced by Borussia Dortmund last week. The German club also confirmed a huge transfer fee of 103 million euros (£88 million).

This is one of the highest value transfers in the history of both clubs. The 19-year-old then completed a medical before finalizing his terms with Real, who will officially introduce him as their latest signing this week.

The Spanish giants have released an official statement about the deal, which reads: “Real Madrid CF and Borussia Dortmund have agreed on the transfer of player Jude Bellingham, who will play for the club. ours for the next six seasons.

Bellingham grew up in Birmingham City’s academy and shone brightly in the Championship before joining Dortmund in the summer of 2020. He has continued to establish himself as an important player for the Yellow and Black team when scoring. 24 goals and 25 assists in 132 appearances. This season, the English player is regularly wearing the captain’s armband and helps the team compete for the Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich.

Bellingham is also a mainstay in Gareth Southgate’s England squad. He is expected to play in the upcoming EURO 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia. However, the Football Association (FA) has confirmed that Bellingham will not feature in both matches as he is still recovering from a knee injury.

The 19-year-old has developed into one of Europe’s most sought-after midfielders. A series of the biggest clubs in the old continent such as PSG, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool or Man United have followed his situation at Dortmund. But in the end, Real Madrid was the winning team.

Bellingham is set to join a midfield full of young talent that Real Madrid has amassed in recent years. Eduardo Camavinga was signed from Rennes in the summer of 2020 while France international Aurelien Tchouameni arrived from Monaco last summer.

Bellingham is Real Madrid’s second rookie in the summer of 2023. Previously, Los Blancos had activated the clause to buy left-back Fran Garcia from Rayo Vallecano for a fee of 5 million euros. In addition, they also welcome the return of midfielder Brahim Diaz after a loan spell at AC Milan.
