Inter Miami’s new stadium project will feature amenities such as public parks and green spaces, a technology center, restaurants and shops, community turf, and a new 25,000-seat stadium.

The Miami Freedom Park project will become the largest park in the coastal city and will be fully privately funded. On top of that, the plan received approval from city residents, with the Miami City Council voting to allow Inter Miami to lease the site for 99 years.

In March 2023, Melreese Golf Course (part of Inter Miami’s new course) announced its closure to make way for the project to be built on 73 acres of land.

This plan also means that Inter Miami will leave behind the 18,000-seat DRV PNK stadium, where the team has been playing since 2020. The completed DRV PNK stadium in 2019 cost David Beckham and his partners 60 million USD. Inter Miami’s youth team for ages U-12 to U-17 is also training there.

Before Lionel Messi is about to move to the MLS to play, Inter Miami goalkeeper Nick Marsman expressed his opinion that the club is still not ready to receive a superstar like the 2022 World Cup champion due to club infrastructure problems.

Nick Marsman told ESPN: “Personally, I think this club is not ready for the arrival of Lionel Messi. We have a makeshift stadium, people can walk on it, no gates. We also left the stadium without security. I think Inter Miami is not ready yet.”
